Gazebo care and maintenance

Support and advice

Protecting your teak garden furnitureGazebos are perfect for entertaining outside, and the beauty of high quality GFS gazebos is that they need little maintenance.

Once you have your gazebo, it will last for years. However, you may just need to touch it up every now and then to keep it in top condition.

Take a look at our guide for simple gazebo care and maintenance:

Maintaining your gazebo

The key element of gazebo care is keeping it clean. Brush it down to get rid of any leaves or dirt before washing it with warm soapy water and a clean brush.

Every so often you should check that your gazebo is still weather protected. You can do this by pouring some water on it. If the water beads roll off then it is waterproofed but if the water soaks in it may need maintaining. You can do this by cleaning the area to be waterproofed, and applying a reproofing solution.

Wooden gazebos

Generally, wooden gazebos are naturally weather resistant and can be left to fend for themselves without any treatment.

The colour will change over time as the wood matures and is exposed to sun and rain. However, if you want your wood to keep its original colouring, you can apply a protector. Our Teak Protector is great for our teak furniture and also protects them from black spot and mildew.

There are many gazebo care treatments that can keep your wood framed gazebo in the condition you want it, whether fresh or mature.

Steel framed gazebos

Check for scratches on steel framed gazebos to prevent them from rusting. They may just need a fresh coat of matching metal paint after a few years of wear and tear, but no other maintenance is needed.

Canopies

All of our gazebos come with canopies, to keep from getting too hot. The roof of your gazebo gets the most of the rain and sun, so these canopies protect it from ageing.

You can buy replacement canopies, which, depending on the style of your gazebo, can be used as a protective cover.
